What is Lingt?
Lingt is a site that allows your instructor to create assignments that require you to type or speak your responses. We hope that, by supplementing the usual reading and writing assignments with Lingt's media-rich spoken assignments, you'll come away from class with a much better grasp of the material.Accessing your teacher's assignments.
Accessing your teacher's classes and assignments is as easy as going to lingtlanguage.com/your-teacher's-username. Your teacher should have given you his or her username when assigning a Lingt assignment.Completing an assignment.
The first thing you should do when accessing an assignment is give Lingt permission to access your computer's microphone. You will be prompted to do this the first time you take a Lingt assignment and never again after that. Just be sure to check 'remember' or things won't work correctly. To complete an assignment, simply provide responses to the empty talk bubbles (see next question) and fill in text-boxes with text. When done, press the "submit" button at below the assignment. Just give the digital equivalent of a signature, hit "submit," and you're done. By the way, we only ask for your email so we can streamline teacher feedback to your submission. We promise not to give it away or spam you.
Using the record bubble.
The record bubble is Lingt's widget-of-choice for recording your voice. Once you've tried it a couple of times, it will be perfectly natural. Click the bubble once to start recording - make sure you don't start talking until the loading animation disappears. Click the bubble again to listen to the sample you just recorded. If you want, you can redo a submission by clicking the little "x" in the upper right corner of the bubble when you hover over it. Easy.Configuring your microphone.
Most of the time, Flash will automatically detect the correct microphone and you can begin recording without a problem. However, sometimes you will need to manually tell Flash to use a microphone other than the default. To do this, click "Choose Mic" in the upper right corner of the screen when you are taking an assignment. You can choose a new microphone from the drop-down menu and check the audio bar on the left of the Flash box to see if your voice is being detected. Unfortunately, all the record bubbles must be reloaded when you change mics, so the page will refresh when you do so. We hate doing it this way and promise to take care of it soon.Configuring your microphone.

- Lingt works best in Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox 2+, and Safari, but other browsers may work as well. Lingt also works in Internet Explorer 6 - just barely.
- A microphone. This can be external or built-in to your computer.
